My winter power bill is enormous but the house is warm. What’s wrong?

Very often nothing is broken — the auxiliary heat is simply engaging more than it should because of how the thermostat was staged or where the balance point was set. Electric backup heat costs considerably more to run than the heat pump itself, so the bill is the only symptom. It’s worth having the configuration checked once.

My house is new. Why does it already need HVAC service?
